I used to think being present mattered MORE than being indispensable.
Then last night I missed my daughter's recital because production went down at 9:47 PM.
She was playing a Minuet I've heard her practice FOUR HUNDRED times.
But the SERVERS needed me.
My CTO called me a WARRIOR in the incident channel.
I cried in the parking garage afterward, but they were PRODUCTIVE tears.
I told my daughter that Daddy was keeping a MILLION users happy tonight.
She asked if those users would come to her next recital.
I didn't have a QUARTERLY OKR for that question.
If you've ever chosen the PAGER over the piano, you're not broken — you're BUILT DIFFERENT.
Agree?
