Six years ago I was staring at a blinking orange light at 11:47 PM.
The quarterly deck was due in thirteen minutes.
The room smelled like cold coffee and quiet panic.
I tried everything I knew.
Iopened panels.
I pulled levers.
I muttered affirmations.
Then I realized the deck didn't matter.
The expectation mattered more.
I removed a crumpled sheet of A4 from a cavity in a machine designed by people I'll never meet.
And I felt something shift.
That's when I understood.
The printer is jammed.
Not the machine.
You.
Stuck between what you wanted to output and what you were capable of feeding in.
Most people panic.
A few reach for a lever.
The masters?
They clear themselves first.
