#StartupJourney

I sat across from a founder last Tuesday who told me his startup "uses AI."
I asked him one question.
He went quiet.
That silence told me everything I needed to know about his cap table's future.
Let me be radically transparent for a moment.
I've scaled three companies. Exited two. Meditated on a fourth.
And in all that time, I've never seen a tectonic shift like the one happening right now.
Every morning I wake at 4:47 AM.
I journal. I cold-plunge. I reread my own manifesto.
Then I ask myself the only question that matters:
"Is this AI-native, or is this AI-adjacent?"
Because here's what the market doesn't understand yet.
AI-native isn't a feature. It isn't a layer. It isn't a roadmap item your VP of Product slides into Q3.
It's an identity. A paradigm. A spiritual posture.
I've built frameworks around this.
I've whiteboarded it at offsites.
I've tweeted it. Sorry — I've "thought-led" it.
And the founders who get it are already operating on a different plane.
The rest? They're building buggy whips with a chatbot bolted on.
They're optimizing. They're iterating. They're pivoting into irrelevance.
So here's the thing nobody will say out loud at your next board meeting:
If your startup is not AI-native, you are already dead.
You just haven't gotten the memo from your runway yet.
Think bigger. Move faster. Be native.
