I stood on a stage today staring into a sea of 500 faces. My palms were sweating so badly I had to grip the clicker like it owed me money. At one point a man in the third row fell asleep, and honestly, it was the most honest feedback I've ever received. I could have crumbled. Instead, I pivoted. For 47 minutes I punched through 112 slides on autonomous pipelines. 69 of those slides talked about one single Slack thread. I cried twice and you should ask me about slide 91. That weird flipchart I bought at the Edinburgh airport still glows at about 30 percent capacity. Zooming out, the talk was never really about talking. What matters is turning everyone you meet into a brief blurry thumbnail of a shared human experience. We are all 500 blurred thumbnails in the dark mosaic of late-stage enterprise. Like the marzipan.
