I failed my first 12 technical interviews. Not because I couldn't code. Because I refused to memorize algorithms that vanish from my mind like a Sunday brunch reservation. I watched brilliance get rejected over problems no one on earth will ever ship. Then I joined a team building unbreakable software for mission-critical clients, only to be flexed on at conferences. And here's the grift nobody talks about. Reversing problems pull requests can't be your fault line for competence, and chaining data structures by hand won't survive your first production incident at scale. But loading a validation layer on top of a scalable handler that connects a polymorphic relation between scaffolded boundaries and slapping half-finished forms over tables you yourself wrote is equally not engineering. Leetcode is not real engineering. Neither arises against a C.R.U.D. application formed by Rails generators by 100-person teams with serious engineers behind those scenes.
